Kelso Wood’s outstanding colt Sizzling is an odds-on favourite in the betting market for the Group 3 2012 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) which will take place at Doomben on December 29, 2012.
The three-year-old has shortened to $1.55 at bookmaker.com.au after opening at $1.60 and his record and form justify the price.
A son of Snitzel, Sizzling has won six of 11 starts and is coming off an outstanding win in the Gold Edition Plate after putting paid to his rivals by a length and a half after giving up a huge headstart with 300 metres to go.
Next best in the market is Dances On Stars ($5.50) who travels up from Sydney for the event after a dominant win at Rosehill last start.
The Gerald Ryan-trained galloper is no stranger to Queensland, having placed behind Sizzling multiple times as a two-year-old during the Queensland Winter Carnival.
The only other runner under double figures is Bruce Hill-trained filly Caliente ($9) who scored her first victory at stakes level earlier this month in the Listed Mode Plate.
In the early double figure range the market becomes crowded with Saluter ($10), Mishani Persauder ($12) and Lucky Hussler ($13) all showing decent form in recent times.
One horse at big odds that could produce an upset is the Robert Heathcote-trained Heza Jetsetter ($21) who has won three of his last fourt starts in Brisbane.
