2014 Vo Rogue Plate Field & Barrier Draw

December 23rd, 2014

The Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m), running at the Gold Coast this Saturday, has attracted a field of 15 three-year-olds who are either vying for a place in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on January 10 or simply having one final lead-in race to the $1 million feature event.

Hijack Hussy will run in the Vo Rogue Plate as a lead-up to the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

Hijack Hussy is the $4.80 favourite in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, having won three of her eight career starts and placing in a further three. The filly won the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day before finishing third in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben Racecourse one month later.

Tony Gollan has opted to run Hijack Hussy in the Vo Rogue Plate to prepare the filly for the 1400m of the Guineas and test her against classier rivals. She is set to jump from barrier 11 with Timothy Bell in the saddle.

Gollan will saddle a further three horses in the 2014 Vo Rogue Plate – Fixation, Yeager, and Frilly Curtain.

Three-year-old gelding Fixation won the Listed Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes (1400m) back in June but has finished end of the field in his next four outings – all minor handicap races. He will jump from the ideal barrier three with Ryan Wiggins serving as hoop.

Yeager won the Queensland Breeders TBQA QTIS (1200m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse at the beginning of August but didn’t fare as well his next two times out over at Doomben. He was last seen finishing last in the King Long Australia QTIS (1350m). The gelding will jump from barrier eight with Tegan Harrison to ride.

Gollan’s final horse Frilly Curtain finished just outside the placings in the Listed Mode Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on December 6. The filly will carry one and a half kilograms less this time out as she jumps from barrier seven with Jim Byrne.

The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Deiheros is on the third line of betting for the 3YO Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au with odds of $9 after winning the Leader Computers Handicap (1200m) by over two lengths last time out. The gelding will jump from barrier 10 in the Vo Rogue Plate with Ric McMahon in the saddle.
